96 Selects State Championship Team
Both teams advance to New England tourneys....Congratulations to the Seacoast Spartans 96 Select and 97 Elite teams on their Bantam Tier-3 and Peewee Tier-1 State Championships.
96 Selects will now represent NH at the New England District Tier-3 Sectional, held in Massachusetts March 19-21. The Spartans opened round-robin play with a 3-2 win against Dover on Saturday morning and then took their only loss of the tournament that evening, 2-1, at the hands of Rochester. Their 1-1 record qualified them for the semi-finals on Sunday. In the semi-final game the Spartans downed Concord 3-1 setting up the rematch against Rochester where the Spartans prevailed 2-1 to claim the State Title.
In the Peewee Tier-1 State Tournament the 97 Elites went undefeated beating the Nashua 98s (8-1) and Northern Cyclones (4-2) in round-robin play. On Sunday they downed the Jr. Monarchs (4-2) in the semis and then the NH Avalanche (4-0) in the finals. After the Spartans streak of 7 straight NH Peewee Tier-1 championships was broken last year, the 97s hopefully have started a new streak for the Spartans.
The 97s will now represent NH at the New England Tier-1 Regional Tournament held in Stamford, CT this weekend. The winner of this tournament will advance to the USA Hockey Tier-1 National Championships held in early April.
